What Is the Graston Technique—and How Does It Work?

If you’re dealing with lingering muscle pain, tightness, or scar tissue from an old injury, the Graston Technique may be a game-changer in your recovery.

What Is It, Exactly?
The Graston Technique is a type of soft tissue therapy that uses small, stainless steel tools to gently break up scar tissue and improve mobility. It’s often used for conditions like tendonitis, muscle strains, and chronic stiffness—especially when other treatments haven’t helped.

Why It Works
When your body heals from an injury, scar tissue can build up and limit how your muscles and joints move. Graston helps break down that restriction, encouraging blood flow and promoting natural healing. It also helps reduce inflammation and pain while restoring range of motion.

What It Feels Like
Most patients describe it as a deep massage. You may feel slight pressure or discomfort in areas with tightness, but many people notice relief after just a few sessions.

Used With Chiropractic Care
At Highlands Chiropractic, we often pair Graston with adjustments or other therapies to help your body heal more fully. It’s especially useful for athletes, active adults, or anyone recovering from injury or surgery.
